Making Pendle Safer - Community Safety Local Area Grants Scheme 2011/12
Published Wednesday 22nd June 11
A grants scheme which aims to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour across Pendle has been launched for the sixth year.
Run by Pendle Community Safety Partnership the Local Area Grants Scheme gives groups the opportunity to bid for up to £2,000 to reduce crime and the fear of crime in their neighbourhood.
It follows the huge success of previous schemes which have supported more than 50 groups to set up their own community safety projects.
Last year the projects included:
- Fishing Buddies (three day fishing courses)
- Bodies in Motion
- Safer roads in Barrowford.
Councillor David Whipp, Chairman of the Community Safety Partnership, said: "We've allocated £20,000 to run the Local Area Grants Scheme again.
"It's a fantastic way to give local groups the opportunity to put forward schemes so they can specifically target any problems in their neighbourhoods.
"All of the projects which have received funding in the past have all helped us to reduce crime and the fear of crime across the borough.
"We're keen to continue to work in partnership with voluntary and community groups in the future."
Applications need to directly relate to one or more of the objectives in Pendle's Community Safety Strategic Assessment. These are:
- reducing harm caused by alcohol and drug misuse
- protecting vulnerable people
- reducing harm caused by anti-social behaviour
- reducing all violent crime
- improving road safety.
Forms must reach the Community Safety Partnership's office at Nelson Town Hall by Tuesday 12th July.
