"With local authorities having to make significant cuts, this funding will help us to  continue with some important projects across Pennine Lancashire. There is very little money around and it's important that when it does come we ensure that we target  it at those key priority areas where it will have the biggest impact."

Mike Blomeley, Leader of Pendle Council also welcomed the news:

"This funding announcement recognises the strong partnership ethos we have across Pennine Lancashire which means that when funding is available, the government has total faith in us to spend it wisely . Despite tough times ahead we hope that the government will continue with this commitment to Pennine Lancashire and will recognise that when money is available to bid for, we know our priority areas where it will bring the biggest benefit and achieve the best outcomes."
