An intergenerational gaming day, aimed at breaking down barriers in the community, will he held in Brierfield on Saturday 27th November.
The event, which has been organised by local police and The Participation Works, will take place at Brierfield Community Centre on Saturday 27th November between 12.30pm and 5pm.
Police, Fire and First Responders from North West Ambulance Service will be on hand to provide information and advice to residents.
Activities on the day will include a FIFA tournament played on games consoles, which will take place in a double-decker SPACE Bus and the Community Centre.
Young people, who are keen to show the integral part they play in the community, will be on hand to give people help and advice on using new technology.
There will also be volunteers available to show the fun gained from more traditional games.
Officers hope the event will help to improve relationships and break down barriers within the community.
PC David Ward, who has organised the event, said: "Everyone I have spoken to seems really keen to take part and I hope the event will help to promote diversity and engagement amongst different sectors of the community.
"The FIFA tournament is free and open to anyone aged ten and over. People need to pre-register to take part as places for this part of the event are limited.
"We have chosen a venue which is right in the heart of the community and within easy walking of all local facilities. I encourage all local residents to come along for what, I'm sure will be a fantastic day for everyone."
Those wishing to take part in the FIFA tournament can pre-register by calling in at Bodies in Motion, Brierfield Action in the Community or the Brierfield Youth Centre.
