Pendle Council is reminding residents that they must return their voter registration forms.
Pendle Council is reminding residents that they must return their voter registration forms.
53% of households in Pendle have so far responded to the annual voter registration process.
Of the 40,000 households that were sent forms last month, 21,000 have responded so far.
Of those, 11,000 households used the telephone, internet or text service to register.
Registration in this way reduces the number of forms that are returned by post, making it a much cheaper and more efficient process.
But the telephone, internet or text service can only be used where households do not have any changes to the details pre-printed on their forms.
If changes need to be made, then the form should be amended, signed and sent back in the return post envelope.
Gillian Hartley, Elections Manager, said:
"There are still over 18,000 households in Pendle who have yet to return their forms.
"We ask them to do so as soon as possible - it only takes a few minutes.
"We are delivering reminders to them this week, and then our canvassers will make personal visits where necessary."
Next year in Pendle elections will be held for the Borough and Parish Councils.
There will also be a referendum on the voting system for the UK Parliament.
By law households have to provide this information to their local council.
If you do not provide the information or give false information, then you could be fined up to £1,000.
For further information, or if you need help with the form, contact the Elections Office on (01282) 661919.
