Homes across Pendle will shortly receive their electoral registration forms, delivered by canvassers working for Pendle Council.
The information from these forms will be included in next year's Register of Electors, so you should check them as soon as possible to make sure you don't lose your right to vote.
Gillian Hartley, Pendle Council's Elections Officer, said :
"When you get the form, you need to check that the details on it about the people who live at your address are all correct.
"If so, you can let us know by calling a freephone number, sending a text message or visiting the website - details of these are printed on the forms.
"It couldn't be more convenient as telephone, text and internet registration are all available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
"Alternatively, you can use the more traditional method of signing and returning the form in the post.
"However, if you find any incorrect details on the form, you have to write in the changes, sign the form and return it to us by post. You don't need a stamp."
If your name is not included in the register, you will not be able to vote at elections.
You may also find it difficult to get a mortgage or credit, or to open a bank account.
If you do not provide the information or you give false information, then you could be fined up to £1,000.
If you don't receive an electoral registration form by the middle of September, contact the Elections Office on (01282) 661919 or 661662.
