Mobile Mates

An exciting new project in Brierfield which brought together residents young and old was a ringing success.
Young people from Marsden Heights Community College taught older Brierfield residents how to use a mobile phone.
This means they can now keep in touch with their friends and families and improve their personal safety.
Pendle Council's Neighbourhood Management Team organised the project but the youngsters took control of the lessons, teaching their students everything they know.
This included turning a mobile phone on to texting and using the In Case of Emergency (ICE) number.
Residents of all backgrounds and ages took part, including Councillor Mike Sutcliff, Mayor of Brierfield.
He said: "It's been great fun and a chance for us all to learn something new.
"I shared some experiences and got a lot back in return - I certainly hope a lot more people get to take part in this project in the future!"
George Brown, Assistant Community Development Officer, added: "It was a fun project with a serious side.
"There are a lot of misconceptions between older and younger people which can lead to a fear of one another.
"Bringing them together can really do a lot to change that and with this project we certainly did just that!"
The success of the project means that Neighbourhood Management hopes to expand it to other areas of Pendle in the near future.
