Pendle's Waterways
The Leeds and Liverpool Canal - the longest canal in Britain built as a single waterway - runs through Pendle, as does Pendle Water and its many tributaries.
The Leeds and Liverpool Canal is navigable and is managed by British Waterways. Pendle Council's regeneration initiatives and the Canal Corridor Development Project have worked to improve the area around the canal and to encourage its use by residents and visitors.
