Household Waste Collection

Grey bin

The Borough Of Pendle offers the grey bin refuse collection service to homes in both urban and rural areas.

On collection day your bin must be placed at the front edge of your property, nearest the kerbside, no later than 7.30 a.m.

Additional Capacity

Our policy states that families of 5 and below should be able to manage with one 240 litre wheeled bin, the exception being if there is a family of 5 including children in nappies, or other exceptional circumstances.

Therefore if there are 5 or less residents at your home, and you do not have any children in nappies, you do not qualify for an extra grey bin. However, we are able to provide additional containers for recycling/garden waste if required.

If you have 6 or more in living in your property, or have children in nappies, or if you believe there are exceptional circumstances that we need to consider, please complete the attached form and return using the freepost addressed envelope.

As part of our assessment we may want to carry out a waste analysis at your property. The analysis examines 2 weeks of grey bin waste and any recyclable materials found in the bin will be removed. Once this has been done, the remaining residual waste is placed back into the grey bin and if the lids shuts down you do not qualify for an extra bin.
