Adopted Local Plan
The Replacement Pendle Local Plan (2001-2016) has now been formally adopted by the Council and replaces the previous adopted Pendle Local Plan (1991-2001).

The Local Plan review process has taken four years to complete. The Council would like to thank all those who took the opportunity to get involved in this planning process. The many comments and suggestions received from individuals, interest groups and developers have help to shape the Replacement Pendle Local Plan (2001-2016).
Changes to the Replacement Pendle Local Plan (2001-2016) - Adoption of the Bradley Area Action Plan
The Bradley Area Action Plan Development Plan Document was adopted by Pendle Council on Thursday 30th June 2011. This new planning document forms part of the Stautory Development Plan for Pendle.
The Bradley AAP sets out a number of new planning policies for the 'Bradley Priority Area'; a regeneration area which covers a large part of the Bradley ward in Nelson. Some of the designations in the Pendle Local Plan have been replaced by new designations and allocations in the Bradley AAP. View a copy of the Bradley AAP. The Adopted Replacement Pendle Local Plan (2001-2016)
The Replacement Pendle Local Plan (2001-2016) was formally adopted by the Full Council on Thursday 18th May 2006.
The Replacement Pendle Local Plan (2001-2016) is available for inspection, free of charge, at Nelson Town Hall (Mondays-Thursdays 9am-5pm, Fridays 9am-4.45pm) and all other Council shops and public libraries within the Borough of Pendle, during their normal opening hours.
Hard copies of the plan (including maps) are available to purchase from the Planning Policy and Conservation Team at a cost of £40.

Saved Policies
On the 21st April 2009 the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government (CLG) issued a direction under paragraph 1(3) of Schedule 8 to the Planning and Compulsory Act 2004. This direction confirmed that all the policies in the Replacement Pendle Local Plan (2001-2016) are saved until such a time that they are replaced by policies in Development Plan Documents (DPDs) as part of the Local Development Framework (LDF) preparation.

Interim Housing Policy
Following changes at a national and regional level Policy 17 of the Replacement Pendle Local Plan (2001-2016) has been updated by a Interim Housing Policy Statement. This interim policy is not officially part of the statutory development plan, however it is adopted by the Borough Council and holds material weight. Inspectors Report
The full Inspectors Report following the Public Inquiry into outstanding objections to the Re-deposit Plan is available to view here. The report contains binding recommendations which have been included in the adopted Replacement Local Plan (2001-2016)

Pendle Local Development Framework
Under the provisions of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act (2004), a new planning system was introduced for England and Wales. The old style of Local Plan is being replaced with a suite of documents called a Local Development Framework.
