What happens when we receive your application?
The Planning Application Process
We check your Planning Application, and consult on it, before making a decision. You can make amendments to, or appeal against a planning decision.
Checking your application
When we receive your application, we will check the following:
- Forms are filled in correctly and signed
- Necessary scaled plans are submitted
- Location plans with the application site edged in red
- The correct fee is received
- Any additional information required
The Council's adopted Validation Checklist accompanying each application form sets out the types of plans and documents that need to be submitted as part of an application. It is important to ensure that all the required information is provided, or we will not accept your application as being valid and will not be able to progress it.
The Government have provided guidance on the validation of planning applications.
Once your application is valid, it is registered on our system, given an application number, and assigned to a planning case officer. We also start to carry out consultations on your application.
