Events Guidance - Parks
Organising your Event
Pendle has plenty of choice when it comes to deciding where to host your public event. With 11 parks you're bound to find the ideal venue for your family fun day, fundraiser and so on.
If you are planning a public event and wish to use land managed by Parks and Recreation Services, you need to apply for permission and are required to fill in an Events Application Pack.
(Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate private functions such as wedding receptions or corporate functions).
Booking
It is recommended that you contact Parks and Recreation Services in the first instance to discuss your event to ensure the site is available and you have a secure booking.
Deadline for essential paperwork
It is essential that Parks and Recreation Services receives all of the following forms, and copies of insurance certificates, completed in full and returned ONE MONTH prior to your event taking place.
- Event Guidance Notes
- Event Guidance Notes - Checklist stage 1 - 3
- Event Application Form

Insurance
It is essential that Parks and Recreation Services receives copies of your Public Liablity Insurance confirming your insurance of a minimum of 5 million pounds at least ONE MONTH prior to your event taking place.
Health and Safety
A full Risk Assessment should be carried out for all events. This is a legal requirement. The guidances above should aid you in carrying out your risk assessments. A form to record your findings is part of the essential paperwork detailed above.
A walk through safety inspection should be carried out immediately prior to, during and after the event. More than one inspection may be needed during the event. Using the Safety Inspection Checklist form above you can detail all defects and also any remedial action taken. This is not an exhaustive list and care should be taken to identify any other hazards associated with the activities at the event.
More information on health and safety at events can be found on the HSE Website
Damages
The site will be inspected prior to the event taking place and then a full inspection will be conducted following the event to ascertain any damages caused by the land hirer. Any damages will be rectified by the Parks and Recreation Service and all costs charged to the hirer (please see terms and conditions).
