Electricity Emergencies
If you lose your power supply, first check whether your neighbours have lost their supply too.
Your neighbours DON'T have power
Call the Emergency Helpline number of the distribution company for the area in which you live. You can find the number on a recent copy of your Electricity bill.
In the Pendle area your supplier is likely to be either United Utilities or CE Electric UK (Northern/Yorkshire Electric).
Your neighbours DO have power
Carry out the following checks to help find the cause of your loss of supply:
- Check the trip switch. If the trip switch is off, switch it back on. If it switches off again, one of your appliances may be faulty.
- Do you have a token card meter? You may have run out of credit.
- Have you lost only part of your supply? If this is the case, there may be something wrong with your wiring and you'll probably need to contact an electrician. (Please note your energy supplier is not responsible for the wiring in your property and will not contribute to any cost of
repairs.)
