Cricket

We have four grass cricket pitches and three synthetic wickets in Pendle. Cricket pitches (both grass and synthetic) are available for hire from April through to September each year.

Grass wickets tend to be used mainly for more formal, league type games and synthetic wickets on a more informal, casual basis although they can be used for an organised game if clubs or leagues want them.

Pitch allocation forms (including fees and charges) for the forthcoming season are sent out annually usually during February.

The preparation of cricket wickets and outfields is carried out by our Landscape Maintenance Team on a weekly basis. We also carry out an annual pitch renovation programme at the end of the cricket season.

For any issues with cricket pitch maintenance contact parks@pendle.gov.uk

The umpire generally makes the decision as to whether a cricket fixture goes ahead as there are no formal pitch inspections carried out. In special circumstances, e.g. bad weather, a special event, etc, the council may cancel games. If this happens, notice will be given to the affected clubs/leagues.
