Dog breeding establishment licence

You cannot keep a breeding establishment without first obtaining a licence from us. Due to recent changes in the legislation we recommend that you contact us before applying. Before a licence can be issued, you must arrange for the premises to be inspected by a Veterinary Officer.

There is a fee of £77.64 which must be paid when an application is made.

The licence and any subsequent licence expires on the 31 December of the year the licence applies to.

Establishments used for the breeding of dogs are controlled by the Breeding of Dogs Act 1973 as amended by the Breeding and Sale of Dogs (Welfare) Act 1999.
