Bonfires

Smoke nuisance

If smoke, smell or ash causes a recurring or major problem for a neighbouring property or garden, we can serve a legal notice banning further burning. Failure to comply with a notice can result in prosecution and a fine.

If a neighbour's smoke is causing you a nuisance, try to speak to them. If you can't resolve the issue, then you can report air pollution from a bonfire

If you genuinely believe that the fire represents a danger to people or property, then contact the Fire Service on 999.
