Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD) Summaries

Information

The Indices of Deprivation 2010 was published by the Department for Communities and Local Government in March 2011. It is made up of a variety of 'domains' and 'indicators' which are combined to form the overall Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD).

This allows Pendle to be compared against the other 325 councils in the country, and the 32,482 local areas across the country can also be ranked based on the levels of deprivation they have.

Central government base 1% of all their funding decisions on IMD results so given its national significance councils use the data to identify priority areas and to lobby for extra funding.
