Children's and Youth Play Area Strategy
The Strategy
The Borough of Pendle's Children's and Youth Play Area Strategy 2006-2016 is a strategic plan to guide the development of Council owned play provision.
Over the next ten years, Pendle Council aim to develop existing playgrounds, multi-use games areas and wheels parks and create new facilities for children, teenagers and all sections of the community to use.
The Strategy comes about after a large amount of consultation was done with local primary, secondary and special schools and other key stakeholders across Pendle.
Following research findings and taking into account local and national issues affecting play, a number of recommendations have been made and these have formed the objectives of the strategy, which are to;
- improve the quantity of facilities
- improve the quality of facilities
- improve access to facilities
As part of the Strategy,a ten year 'Playground Replacement Rolling Programme' has been developed and money has been secured from Council budgets to replace a number of these facilities each year over the ten year life of the Strategy.
