Immigration Inspections
Request for a Housing Inspection for Immigration Purposes
Prior to allowing entry clearance into this country, confirmation is required to determine whether the intended accommodation is safe and fit for human habitation, and whether the property would become statutorily overcrowded by any additional person(s) proposing to live there.
The inspection takes into account such things as the general state of repair, the presence of kitchen and bathroom facilities, heating and ventilation in the house etc. The sponsor will be asked to show the Officer around the property so that an assessment can be made as to whether the property would become overcrowded if the applicant(s) was added to the household.
The property you intend to live in must be owned or occupied exclusively by you and your family. Applications received for rented accommodation which is shared with members of another family cannot be accepted. The Immigration Authorities will not accept letters that are more than 12 weeks old. If your letter expires on this ground, another letter cannot be issued until we have carried out a full inspection again. It is therefore very important that you do not submit an application for a property inspection for immigration purposes until you are ready to submit your full application to the relevant authorities. Applications are dealt with in strict date order and therefore "urgent" requests cannot be accommodated. In such cases, the applicant should arrange for a private inspection.
The current charge for an Immigration Inspection is £63.80 and can be paid using the following methods:
