Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why are there no street lights in my street?

Answer:
There is no legal requirement to provide street lights, and where none exist it is only possible to fund new lighting with money from Lancashire County Council. Any requests for street lighting in these locations is passed to Lancashire County Council for their consideration. Unfortunately, there is a very limited budget for such works, and with the typical cost of a new street light being in the region of £1200.00, it is impossible to estimate when any new lighting can be installed.
