Q: Am I allowed to have a garden fire? Can you do anything about a bonfire being built near my house?
Answer:
Garden fires are acceptable provided they do not unreasonably cause a nuisance to other properties (e.g. by smoke, ash etc). If you have large amounts of garden waste, a preferred method of disposal would be to arrange for the material to be disposed of by composting.
The Council does not have any authority over fire safety. We recommend that you contact Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service for advice.
