Council tax benefits

  • Council Tax Support - this is for people on low income with small savings
  • Discounts - if you live alone, you will normally receive a 25% discount
  • Exemptions - in some cases, you do not have to pay any council tax
  • Disabled Person's Reduction - there are a few circumstances where houses occupied by a disabled person may qualify for a reduction

Housing benefit

If you're on a low income and need financial help to pay all or part of your rent, you may be able to get Housing Benefit

Lancashire County Council has a Benefits Service which provides free and confidential advice to make sure that you are claiming all of the benefits you are entitled to.

The Gov.UK website has a comprehensive A to Z of benefits which has information on how you find out what you're eligible for, and how you can claim.
