Road safety - speed checks

Speed camera sign on motorwayAlthough there has been a certain amount of resentment the growth in the use of safety cameras, it has been proven that safety cameras make people drive slower and, as a direct result, reduce crashes and help protect road users. Revenue from speeding tickets pays for the reduction of road casualties through the Lancashire Road Safety Project.

Safety cameras are not designed to trap motorists, as they only come into play when the speed limit has been exceeded and the law broken.
