Roads and highways - flooding (drains and gullies)

Gully missing its grateThis service, carried out by Lancashire County Council, involves routine ditch and gully emptying (usually on an annual basis). It also involves emergency clearance of ditches, gullies and drains when flooding of roads or pavements has occured.

Lancashire County Council is not responsible for flooding on private or unadopted roads or private property.

Additional information: If you think the sewer is blocked under the road because there is flooding or you can detect a foul smell, please contact United Utilities (external link) direct (0845 602 0406). It is most likely their responsibility. If you are not sure whether the sewer is a fault please contact Lancashire County Council's Customer Service Centre on 0845 053 0011.
