Licence - private hire vehicle (minicab)
Private hire vehicles (minicabs) have to be licensed. Private hire vehicles are vehicles that cannot be hailed from the street, and journeys must be pre-booked.
Vehicles must be tested and inspected before a licence can be issued to ensure that they are mechanically fit, safe and comfortable.
Application forms for a private hire vehicle licence and licence conditions are available for download and can also be collected from Elliott House and Number One Market Street in Nelson.
Applying
A completed application form, compliance certificate issued by one of the Council's approved testing stations, insurance certificate, Vehicle Registration Certificate (V5/C) and the appropriate fee either for six months or one year are required when making your application.
