Pollution control - asbestos
Asbestos was used widely in the past in many situations, including during the building and fitting-out of domestic properties. It comes in several different forms, and some carry a higher risk to health than others.
Therefore it is important to seek expert advice if you think your home may contain asbestos materials. Please see the Health and Safety Executive's asbestos web pages (external link) for more information.
The council does not provide a service to remove or take away asbestos. Asbestos-containing materials can be disposed of at some Lancashire household waste recycling centres, but it must be prepared properly for disposal. You can find more information on the Lancashire County Council hazardous waste webpage (external link).
