Licence - boarding animals

Two lurchers on a beachThe keeping of animal boarding establishments (catteries and kennels) is controlled by the Animal Boarding Establishments Act 1963.

Premises for boarding dogs and cats (kennels and catteries) must be licensed by the local authority.

Officers visit each premises to check compliance with the legislation and licence conditions prior to issuing of a licence.

A fee is payable with each application. The licence will expire on the 31st December of the year the licence applies to.
