Licence - skips

Skip on the roadBuilders' skips require a permit if they are to be placed on the highway. This is a requirement of the Highways Act 1980. It is the skip company (owner of the skip) which must obtain the permit.

Please contact Lancashire County Council on 0845 053 0011 for further information or visit their website.

Online services: Complete an online form at Lancashire County Council's to apply for a skip licence

Accessibility

Before a skip licence can be issued, you will be required to complete an application form. The majority of skip licences are applied for by the skip company (please make sure the skip company you use has checked to see if they require a skip licence from the highway authority before you accept delivery). A highways engineer will make sure that the location is safe to site a skip before issuing a skip licence. The highways engineer may feel it necessary to add other conditions to the permit depending on the location. There is a fee for a skip licence. A skip permit can be from one day to 28 days depending on its location. For further details, speak to a highways engineer, who will be happy to answer any of your questions.
