Benefit - going into hospital

Doctor's BagA person claiming benefits who is admitted to hospital must notify the local authority that deals with their claims for housing and council tax benefit.

Online services: Complete an electronic change of circumstances form.

Additional information: In most cases your benefit entitlement will have to be reassessed to take account of your new circumstances. Most benefits are reduced during a stay in hospital - usually after either four or six weeks.
