Parish councils and councillors
Parish and Town Councils are the most local level of elected government in England. They are independent of other levels of local government, ie. District/Borough and County Council, however they maintain a close working relationship with both.
There are around 10,000 local councils in England and Wales. Pendle has 5 Town Councils and 14 Parish Councils.
They deliver a range of services at a community level and their role is to represent the local community, provide services to meet local needs and improve quality of life and community well being.
