Death - registering

White lilyA death must be registered in the Registration District in which it occurred.

You can register a death that took place anywhere in the areas covered by Lancashire County Council by going to any of its registration offices.

All Lancashire County Council registration offices work on an appointment basis. You can get an appointment by contacting the office of your choice.

After you have registered the death, several other organisations - including government departments and local council services - may have to be contacted and given the same information.

To help you with this, the registrar will issue you with a unique number and a leaflet explaining our Tell Us Once service.  This new service means that you can just tell us - once - and we will help you let all the organisations know who need to.
