Townscape Heritage Initiatives
A Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI) is a scheme supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund that gives grants to help refurbish buildings in conservation areas where they have suffered significant deterioration as a result of economic decline.
Pendle's Townscape Heritage Initiative conservation area is located in the Whitefield neighbourhood of Nelson. There are also THIs in Darwen and Burnley.
The THI also run a programme of information and training events aimed at a variety of audiences, including owners of older property and those involved with refurbishment, maintenance and repair of older property.
